The Historical Origins of the Library of the Prague University of Economics and Business
SUMMARY: This article explores the history of the Library of the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE Library) and its older collections. Following the introductory section, it describes the Library of the Ministry of Social Welfare of the Czechoslovak Republic, including its establishment and historical development in the first half of the 20th century. The further development after 1945 is outlined, with a primary focus on the transformation into the State Library of Social Sciences and, later, the Central Economic Library, the predecessor of today’s VŠE Library.
