PUBLICATION HISTORY: Originally a bimonthly called Knihovna–knihovnická revue (ISSN 0862-7487), first published in 1990, since 2000 was in publication as a quarterly (ISSN 1214-0678); library professional periodical of collection type; format A4. Since 2005 the journal has been published under the title of Knihovna: knihovnická revue.
BASIC INFORMATION: Since 2005 Knihovna: knihovnická revue has been in publication twice a year in the A5 format, approximate number of pages: 150; number to be printed: 350.
JOURNAL PROFILE: Knihovna: knihovnická revue publishes theoretical studies in the field of Library Science and brings information about successful projects of both Czech and foreign libraries and about active participation of the National Library of the Czech Republic in international projects. Since 2008 the main papers have been going through an independent peer-review procedure. The journal provides a platform for publishing the results of theoretical studies in the field of librarianship which could be used in practise. This general library professional journal brings reports from conferences, seminars and other library events and informs about new Czech and foreign publications from the field of librarianship. Every issue also contains a section called “News of foreign library science literature” - annotated abstracts from the foreign journals and magazines subscribed by the Library of Library Science Literature of the National Library of the Czech Republic.

* Since 2015 the periodical Knihonva: knihovnická revue is included in the prestigious scientific journal databases The European Reference Index for the Humanities and the Social Sciences (ERIH PLUS).
* The periodical Knihovna: knihovnická revue is registered in the Czech National Bibliography.
* Thanks to the licence contract with EBSCO since 2009 the lists of contents of the journal have been excerpted to the international databases of LISA.
