The meaning and purpose of library in children’s and adolescents’ conception

Summary: The paper informs about a research project that is being implemented by teachers and students of the Institute of the Czech language and Library Science, Faculty of Philosophy and Science, Silesian University in Opava, focussing upon the determination of the importance and the role of the library in an intergenerational perspective. The paper presents the philosophy and the methodology of the research project, its chief objectives and the single targets, analysing also the motives having lead to qualitative approach and behavioral research methods. Psychometric elements as well as a mixed-method strategy have been used for data acquisition and their analysis. In general, the paper intends to show ways allowing very effective exploration and utilisation of both general and specific users´ attitudes.
